Fees

City of Miami Building Department’s fee schedule: City of Miami — Building Permit Fee Schedule, Exhibit C, effective Adopted 23 April 2026 (Ordinance 14456 / Resolution R-26-0200); the schedule states it supersedes earlier fees (Exhibit C, Chapters 10, 17 and 20, adopted by Ordinance 14456 and Resolution R-26-0200 on 23 April 2026; supersedes any adopted fee at issue in the City Code).

Fees are worked out from: Residential up to 3 units, on estimated addition, new or remodelling construction cost: 0.50 per cent; Commercial or multi-family, on construction cost up to 30 million: 1.00 per cent; the excess above that: 0.50 per cent; Solid waste residential surcharge: 0.22 per 100 dollars of estimated construction cost (minimum 26, maximum 600); Solid waste commercial surcharge: 2.50 per cent of construction cost (minimum 57, maximum 10,500); Energy conservation surcharge on new construction or addition: 0.11 per square foot.

Minimums: Minimum permit fee: recorded as an amount below; Residential work estimated under 2,500 dollars: a flat fee, recorded below.

Charged on top: Phased permit fee, plus applicable surcharges; Work without a permit: a base fee plus a multiple of it — twice for homestead residential, four times for commercial; The schedule states it does NOT include the required State of Florida or Miami-Dade County surcharges.
