Where the application starts

In person

The Town’s own answer to “How do I apply for a Building Permit?” — “Building Permits are available in the Building Department located in the Town of Cutler Bay Town Center at 10720 Caribbean Blvd., Suite 110 or you can click here to download a permit application and a checklist of items necessary when submitting application.” The counter is the destination; the Town’s online service is for status and inspections, not for filing. Payment is taken by cheque, money order, Visa or Mastercard.

Where plans and documents go

In person

Delivered with the application at the Building Department counter. What goes with it is set by the per-scope checklist the Town publishes alongside the application; the re-roofing one asks for the contractor’s roofing package and the Notice of Acceptance in TWO COPIES each, which is how a paper submittal is counted.

The Town runs an Online Permit Request and Search giving, in its own words, instant access to information on the status of permits, plans and inspections, 24 hours a day. Records are searchable from 1 August 2010; for earlier permits the Town says to contact the Building Department.
